Introducing the notion of magnetic refractive index allows one to reproduce the majority of optical experiments and devices as spin wave based, i.e. “spin optics”, phenomena. Most basic examples include diffractive and refractive lensing; we demonstrate how those concepts perform in magnetics, including 3D microscopy capable of observing physical voids and magnetic domain walls inside magnetic materials, coupled with subwavelength resolution and non-linear self-focusing.
