Prof. Albert Fert awarded honorary doctorate by AMU

On June 6, AMU rector Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska presented an honorary doctorate degree from the Adam Mickiewicz University to Prof. Albert Fert, a physicist and winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize. The ceremony took place at the Polish Library in Paris.

Albert Fert is a French discoverered the effect of giant magnetoresistance, which contributed to the miniaturization of hard disks. Prof. Fert has collaborated with Prof. Barnaś of our Faculty (memeber of ISQI). In 2007, he and Peter Grünberg were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery.
