Increasing amounts of information force the continuous improvement of information storage and processing technologies, further device miniaturization, and their efficiency increase. Magnetic skyrmions, topological quasiparticles, and the smallest stable magnetic textures possess intriguing properties and potential for data storage applications. I will present the nucleation, stabilization and current induced movement of magnetic skyrmions in magnetic nanostructures. In the first part, I will present the process of formation of magnetic skyrmions from magnetic domains during the magnetic field induced remagnetizaion process of antidot lattice [1], in the next part, I will explain the technique of stabilizing magnetic skyrmions in nanodots by using the magnetic force microscope [2]. I will conclude the presentation with a discussion of the effects of stabilizing and moving skyrmions in hybrid magnetic nanostructures [3].
