Ultrafast spin-charge in the time domain at the surface of topological insulators probed by THz emission spectroscopy

In my seminar, I will present our latest results of ultrafast spin-charge interconversion at the interface between topological insulators (BiSnTe, BiSb) and a transition metal based ferromagnet (Co) probed by THz emission spectroscopy. In these experiments, we generate an ultrafast spin-current in Co by a short femtosecond laser pulse and produce a THz wave via spin-charge interconversion at the surface of these topological insulators. We will discuss the angular measurement properties (crystalline direction) as well as possible topological surface state and/or bulk states contributions to the light of the electronic band structure investigated by ARPES and calculations.
