The single-molecule magnets (SMMs) are a new class of nanoscale materials that exhibit unique magnetic properties at the molecular level. Using individual molecules for specific applications, however, necessitates the possibility of their organization on solid surfaces. The procedure for the controlled deposition and separation of Mn12-stearate single-molecule magnets on surfaces of silica nanoparticles will be described. A study of the structure and magnetic characteristics of anchored SMMs will be presented and discussed.
