Abstract:
Polyoxovanadates (POV) are very prone to redox reactions and often exist in mixed valence form. In molecules with sufficiently high symmetry some of the unpaired electrons are delocalized over many different vanadium sites. Such molecules are specially susceptible to electric field which can be used to change the localization of the itinerant electrons and thus also the magnetic state of the molecule. In this presentation I will show the results of the calculations performed for the two existing POV molecules and demonstrate that electric field without electric current can be used to change the magnetic state of a molecule.
